Volunteering with FAST
By Eileen Partington
Just returned home after a cold, windy week with FAST in Calais. We sorted and restocked the supplies then went out to various windswept 'camps' to offer smiles, advice, and lots of strepsils, tissues and cough and cold remedies which were very gratefully received. Dressings cuts and sprains was a challenge in the wind and snow! Hot lemsip drinks were welcomed too, and once we were invited back to one 'camp' for tea! The only good thing about the bitter weather was that more shelters were opened, so the lads had some rest for a couple of days- but they closed again as soon as the icy blast was over!
It was a good weeks work with a great bunch- if you are a medic, come and volunteer with FAST!
